Sounds very good, that addresses a lot of my fears about Fallout. If you can't just list your quest in the order you want to do them then maybe HL would be a better choice. And of course there is a lot to do, it's a rich world full of interesting stores, characters, places and quests. Obsidian made New Vegas, while Bethesda made Fallout 3. I didn’t mention gameplay or graphics because they’re ultimately the same, and in terms of graphics the only winner is the brown paper bag market. And by then you are comfortable with the mechanics and the world so you could just do whatever.Īlso part of open world is just going down some random road to see what's at the end. Only now is it clear that I hold New Vegas in a much higher regard than Fallout 3. It doesn't fully go linear but it very strongly directs you for about 4-8h depending how much you explore and after that it opens up. As for the open aspect the beginning of the game is is very directed. It has a lot of content in it so it will last longer. 1/4 of the end is missing and that is a big reason why it can't replace HL. The biggest problem with Black Mesa is that it's not finished. It has it's flaws in some levels with it but overall it tells the same story that HL did the same way that HL did. I would say that Black Mesa follows the plot quite well. I often feel lost in RPGs because there is so much to do, is Fallout like that? Also how strong is the game play? It doesn't follow the exact same plot as the real deal, and again I would prefer the real deal over better graphics. I can't get it working, the downloads don't work.

Really though the best way to describe it is it makes the fallout 3 world seem boring.I saw that, but I have two problems with Black Mesa:ġ. If it wasn't for the mods i would have to take off a point or 2. Oh and if you get stuttering get the d3d9 file, and if you have ati get the alternative d3d9 file so you can still use transparency mutisampling. Im already using over 10 mods just as longer days, smaller ui, centered raised camera, perk every level etc.

But literally a new mod is released by the hour since they only have to be ported over. Of course your on the same engine, so some of the same problems exist. Really a lot more depth in the world and just overall better. Obsidian has taken a decent game and made it great. Take fallout 3, expand it, add more diversity, add more interesting locations, triple the amount of factions, add a better theme, and add more immersion and you have fallout NV. Take fallout 3, expand it, add more diversity, add more interesting locations, triple the amount of 27 hours in, just getting started.
